Eagle residents have a new option for pumpkins after Halloween. The Town of Eagle says it will accept carved and decorative pumpkins for composting Nov. 1–30, 2026.

Where is the pumpkin drop-off?

Bring pumpkins to the compost dumpster in the community garden parking lot, across Capitol Street from the Brush Creek Pavilion. The town says any Eagle resident may use the drop-off.

Before leaving home, remove candles, glitter, wax, lights, paint and other decorations. Put only pumpkins in the dumpster. Then lock it behind you to keep animals out.

Those rules make this different from a general yard-waste or food-scrap collection point. If your pumpkin has paint or attached decorations that you cannot remove, check with the town before bringing it.

Why compost a pumpkin?

The town says composting turns pumpkins into soil and keeps organic material out of the landfill. There is also a local wildlife reason to dispose of pumpkins promptly: Colorado Parks and Wildlife warns that pumpkins can attract bears near homes. Our Eagle County pumpkin and bear-safety guide explains how to avoid leaving a food source on your porch.

For drop-off questions, contact the town’s sustainability specialist at 970-328-9658 or kira.koppel@townofeagle.org. Check the Town of Eagle’s composting announcement for updates before you go.
