Editorial Standards

These are the standards Epic Colorado Life holds itself to. If you think we have fallen short, tell us.

Sources. We name or link the sources behind important facts, and we prefer official and primary sources such as town announcements, public agencies and the organizations involved. When information is developing or unconfirmed, we say so, and where details may change, we note when they were last updated.

Accuracy. We work to verify names, dates, places and other important facts against reliable sources before publication. When a source is incomplete or unclear, we report what is known and what is not, rather than filling the gap.

Accountability. Our editor is responsible for everything Epic Colorado Life publishes.

Use of AI. We use AI tools to help research and draft some articles, and our editor is responsible for everything we publish. Our planned original interviews and video features will be produced by people. We never present invented or AI-generated words as a real person’s quotation. Images that are generated or substantially altered by AI are labeled as such; routine edits such as cropping or color and exposure adjustments are not.

Images. We aim to credit photographs and graphics appropriately and identify illustrative imagery.

Interviews. As we begin publishing original interviews, the people we interview will know they are speaking with Epic Colorado Life for publication, and we will identify them as they agree to be identified.

Corrections and updates. If you spot an error, email news@epiccoloradolife.com with the article and what you believe is wrong. We review reported inaccuracies and correct significant errors promptly. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article with the date and what changed. When new information changes a story, we add a dated update. Minor typos and formatting are fixed without a note. We do not quietly remove articles to hide mistakes.

Sponsored content and independence. Our news coverage is not for sale. Sponsored content is clearly labeled “Sponsored” and is never presented as news. If we receive a complimentary stay, meal or service for a story, we say so in that story. We disclose any financial or business relationship that affects a story, and we do not describe coverage as independent when such a relationship exists.
