Avon voters have seven names to consider for four open Town Council seats in the Nov. 3, 2026 election. Two candidates are incumbents, and five are seeking seats they do not currently hold.

The Town of Avon’s official candidate announcement lists the seven qualified candidates alphabetically:

  • Rich Carroll — incumbent
  • Justin Chesney
  • Gregg M. Cooper
  • Jennie Fancher
  • Alan Sandberg
  • Ruth Stanley — incumbent
  • Frederick “Rick” Sudekum

Town officials say the other two seats opening this year are held by term-limited councilors Tamra N. Underwood and Chico Thuon. Avon’s municipal elections are nonpartisan, according to the town’s election information.

Hear the candidates, then compare their answers

High Five Access Media has posted a recording of its Sept. 24 Avon candidate forum. The town said the forum was designed to address affordable housing, sustainable growth, privacy and economic development. Watching candidates answer the same questions is a more useful comparison than relying on an endorsement letter about only one person.

As you watch, consider asking what each proposal would cost, what the council can actually decide, and how a candidate would handle trade-offs. For housing, for example, a specific site, financing source and timeline say more than a general pledge to support affordability. For town finances, ask which services or projects a candidate would prioritize if revenue falls short.

The town’s election page links election materials and ballot information. Because voters may have different district and county contests on the same ballot, use your own ballot to confirm every race before voting.

This guide does not rate or endorse candidates. It gives Avon residents a verified list and a shared source for hearing their answers directly.
