Already turning your front yard into a haunted scene—or building a pumpkin display outside your business?

Gypsum’s Haunt the Town decoration contest gives that effort a chance at a $150 Costco gift card. Entries close Friday, October 16, at 3 p.m.

The contest is free and open to homes and businesses within Gypsum town limits. Official rules and entry form

How to enter

Use the town’s online form to submit your contact information, complete property address and a photo of the display.

Before submitting, check that the address includes both the street name and number. The town requires a valid address and photo for eligibility.

Submit by 3 p.m. Friday—not the end of the day. Enter through the Town of Gypsum.

What judges will consider

The contest criteria cover three areas:

  • Visual impact: how the display looks at first glance.
  • Halloween or fall spirit: how well it captures the season.
  • Creativity and originality: the ideas and personal touches that make it distinctive.

That leaves room for more than a frightening haunted-house theme. A playful pumpkin display or handmade fall scene can also fit the contest.

Dates and prizes

Judging runs October 19–23, with the winner announcement planned for the week of October 26.

First prize includes the Costco gift card and a festive yard sign. The rules limit a home or business to winning once every three years. Town contest details

Make your photo count

Choose a photo that shows the display clearly. If lighting is central to your design, photograph it when those details are visible.

Also check the background and framing so the main features do not disappear behind a vehicle or outside the image.

These are practical photo suggestions, not additional contest rules. For eligibility and submission requirements, follow the town’s listing.

The deadline is close. If your display is ready, take the photo and send in the entry while there is still time to resolve any submission problem.
