Heading to FreeFall in Avon? Kids Can Get In Free—but You’ll Still Need Tickets.

FreeFall brings three days of bluegrass to Avon. Here’s how children’s admission works, when music starts, and what to know before heading to Nottingham Park.

A weekend of bluegrass in Avon could be easier on the family budget than you expect. Children 12 and younger receive free general admission to FreeFall—but the organizer says they still need a ticket.

The festival runs October 9–11 at Harry A. Nottingham Park. Whether you’re planning a full weekend or just an afternoon, a little preparation will help you spend more time enjoying the music and less time sorting out admission and transportation.

Pick Your Day Before You Buy

The festival’s website lists single-day general admission at $50, a two-day pass at $100, and a three-day pass at $110. Check the ticket checkout for availability, fees, and the final total before purchasing.

Friday gates open at 2 p.m., with music beginning at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, gates open at 11 a.m. and music starts at 11:30 a.m. Avon’s event notice lists a 9 p.m. finish each night.

Check the official festival website and tickets.

Bringing Children? Get Their Tickets Too

Free general admission for children 12 and younger does not mean they can enter without a ticket. Include them when arranging admission.

VIP is separate: children and adults both require VIP tickets to enter that area. Make sure everyone in your group has admission for the same part of the venue.

The organizer describes the event as suitable for all ages.

Plan Your Ride Before You Leave

Avon recommends public transportation to reach the park. Its event notice says Avon buses and shuttles arrive at and depart from Avon Station.

The Lake Street bus stop will be closed during the event; the town directs riders to the Mikaela Way stop instead.

Drivers should expect changes around the park. The town lists a partial Lake Street closure between the Recreation Center’s west lot and West Benchmark Road through 11 p.m. Sunday.

One detail needs extra care: the town’s notice lists the Recreation Center’s north lot as both available parking and closed during the festival. Don’t rely on that lot without checking with the town. The notice provides 970-748-4000 for event-impact questions.

Review Avon’s transportation and closure notice.

Pack for an Outdoor Afternoon—and Evening

This is an outdoor event, and the organizer says it operates in rain or shine. Severe weather may temporarily stop performances for safety.

Bring layers and rain protection, and check the local forecast before leaving. A warm afternoon does not guarantee a comfortable evening outdoors.

Lawn chairs are allowed on the grass, but not on the paved areas. The published rules prohibit coolers and outside alcohol. Pets cannot enter; qualifying service animals are permitted under the organizer’s stated rules.

Read the festival’s admission, weather, and bag policies.

Make the Practical Decisions First

Choose your day, arrange the right tickets for everyone, and decide how you’ll get home after the music ends. Then check the organizer’s latest updates before setting out.

For families, the free children’s admission is useful—but planning ahead is what makes it an easy outing.
